Getting Started Instructions
- 1
Insert the IBM ThinkPad T42 Laptop Battery. Flip the T41 over to expose the empty battery slot. Align the battery so that the battery conduits on the front match up with the connector plates in the T42 battery slot. Slide the front end of the battery in against the connector plates and then lower the back end of the battery into the slot.
- 2
Lock the battery into place by sliding the battery latch away from the battery toward the center of the T42.
- 3
Assemble the AC power cord by connecting the AC plug wire to the converter box. The converter box is already connected to the computer jack.
- 4
Charge the battery by inserting the computer jack into the socket on the rear panel of the T41 and then plugging the AC plug into a wall outlet.
- 5
Flip open the laptop to reveal the display screen.
- 6
Turn the T42 on by pressing the power button located on in the center of the panel above the keyboard.
I have the larger nine cell and the modular bay battery. I haven’t done any scientific testing, but with both batteries full charged it goes between six and seven hours on medium settings with wireless on which is excellent considering the larger screen. More often than not, I stop using it before the battery runs out.
Conclusion:
Overall the T42 is a great laptop computer. When I am using it in my lap it is a dream. The performance is very good and the FlexView screen is astounding. A great choice for people like me who do not like coated screens. It is very well constructed. I can see why for me it is the perfect blend of size and performance. Not too big and not too small. Anyone looking for a well constructed and versatile notebook, business user or otherwise, would do well to consider it.
