After successful launch of Lenovo N21 Chromebook in February, and Asus Chromebook, Google is planning to launch six more 2-in-1 model Chromebooks by Q3 2015. The new models will be launched through HP, Acer, and Google itself, to cater the large market.
Google intends to launch two models of its own brand to cater both high-end and entry level segments of the market. It is expected that Google will start mass production and shipments of the models by the third quarter of this year. Out of the two models, the high-end model will feature Nvidia’s Tegra 6 processor, along with 12.85 inch display. On the other hand, the entry level model will be smaller and is expected to come in 10.1 inch display, along with China based Rockchip processor.
Some industry analysts are estimating that the high-end model by Google will be launched to compete and take on Apple’s new 12 inch Mackbook, which is expected to launch by the end of this year. As the project is expected to be open sourced, it will involve many laptop battery suppliers and other components of the laptop.
Acer is expected to launch the 2-in-1 Chromebook in the fourth quarter of the current year, which is expected to sport 11.6 inch display, with Skylake processor. HP is expected to launch its new Chromebooks in the third quarter, which is said to come in 10.1 inch display, and is expected to be similar to the Asus’s Flip Chromebook.

The laptop offers 9.5 hours of Lenovo ThinkPad T410 Battery backup and has a retractable camera. People familier with the industry are expecting that the companies will launch detachable models by fiscal year 2016.
It is expected that the Chromebook will be marketed outside the education market, but will offer most of the android based applications. Considering the android applications, most of the interface will also be similar to the current version of android seen on mobiles and tablet PCs.
