Dell XPS Laptop Battery Status: “Plugged in, not charging”
If you are getting the “Plugged in, not charging” status on your Dell XPS M1530 Laptop Battery, please following the instructions below to troubleshooting it:
1. Shutdown Dell XPS M1530 Laptop
2. Remove notebook battery, unplug the Dell XPS M1530 AC Adapter
3. Hold down power button 5-10 seconds
4. Replace the Dell XPS M1530 Battery
5. Plug in Laptop AC adapter
6. Turn on laptop, allow OS to boot
7. Status should now say, “Plugged in and charging”
Tips & Warnings
- If none of the above solutions work, you can download and run the Laptop Battery Calibration Utility offered by Dell. This utility will drain the battery and recharge it (if possible) to determine if there are any issues with the battery.
- Dell laptop batteries should last between 18 and 24 months. At around this period in time, the battery will start to perform worse and worse and eventually require replacement. Consider the age of your battery before investing too much time troubleshooting as an old battery will not likely be something you can repair.
